Research from Taiwan shows that tannins in wine can help fight Covid-19 by effectively inhibiting the activity of two key enzymes within the virus.

“Because we’re talking about life,” said Williams. “Conventional farming systems are about pushing life out of vineyards. We need to talk about bringing life back in…and break-up these monocultures, which are never healthy.”

Eastern Washington’s Red Mountain American Viticultural Area may be small in size but big on reputation. The AVA has long been known for it’s red varieties and the grapes grown here are utilized by winemakers throughout the state.

Tucked away on a hillside about 15 miles west of the Tri-Cities, the Red Mountain American Viticultural Area (AVA) is one of Washington’s most prominent wine grape growing regions.

At just a shade over 4,000 acres, Red Mountain is small in size but big on producing some of the best red wines in the country. Top red grape varieties grown here include cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, malbec, cabernet franc, and petit verdot.

The best Red Mountain wines have the power and depth of Napa Cabernet, but with a freshness of acidity and a re!nement of tannins that somehow make them a bit easier to drink, especially in their youth.
